Property Description

Ideally located for venturing into the Lake District National Park, the beautiful Eden Valley and Solway Firth, is Swallows Nest.

This charm-filled cottage offers homely accommodation for families and friends looking to explore Carlisle and the wider region.

The interior offers plenty of character, with its flagstone flooring in the open-plan living space and its bedrooms resting under the eaves of the roof.

The kitchen is well-equipped, adjoining a dining area and comfortable sitting area with TV and French doors to your very own, private garden.

The bedrooms comprise a double and a twin, with exposed beams and Velux windows drawing in the natural light from above. A cot is available.

They are served by the shower room, continuing this homely feel, with a gleaming white finish.

Outside there is dedicated secure gated on-site parking.

This pet-friendly cottage is part of the complex hosting luxury kennels and doggy day care, with a pet bereavement facility on-site.

The accommodation is enveloped by 7-acre grounds, giving your four-legged friends the opportunity to run around and get some exercise in a safe environment. Preparations are underway for the construction of an agility course. Dog bowls and spare leads are available.

The 7 acre grounds offer a secure dog exercise paddock featuring a nature pond and benches, perfect for leisurely walks or a picnic.  There are further meadows to which access is available, dependant on the time of year.

Chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowl and pea fowl wander the grounds freely and wild rabbits are also prevalent at dusk and dawn.

Armathwaite, about one mile away, offers the ideal countryside break, with many walks, canoeing, climbing and other outdoor activities on offer in a wonderful region of the Lake District.

There are two pubs in the village, a Post Office / convenience store and a railway station offering direct access to Carlisle on the scenic Carlisle to Settle line.

At nearby Coombs Wood can be seen curious rock carvings in the soft sandstone cliffs. The interesting carvings consist of various faces and a salmon. Nearby, there is an inscription of greater antiquity which is believed to be of possible Roman origin.

Most of the forest is a Plantation on Ancient Woodland Site PAWS. There are lovely walks along the river or you can complete a circular walk starting at one of the pubs in Armathwaite.

In addition, there are good walks along the River Eden to Armathwaite and Wetheral.

The city of Carlisle is less than 10 miles away and offers a lovely day out with the family, with many further attractions to explore.

This scenic location, with beautiful coastline nearby and lovely towns and villages to discover, all add to the appeal at Swallows Nest.
